Being a Carbonite (trial) user myself, I can confirm that it is a simple (but long) process to back up all of your files online. Having to send in my computer for repairs and being without a large enough storage system that'll back up all of my precious music files and videos, I was in search of an alternative. And I found it, with a trial lasting just long enough for the return of my computer. Luckily, no files had to be erased!

WIN7 | Want third party themes? Patches too complicated?
I introduce the most straightforward thing I have ever seen, UxStyle. UxStyle's site's slogan clearly says, "No more patching," which is a welcoming sight even to a geek.
For some reason, the Universal Patcher would not work on my 64x Windows 7 System (even after making sure it was the correct patch and for the correct system). That's when I came across UxStyle. UxStyle is just... so utterly simple! Even the license agreement on the installer is simple (who reads those anyway...).
If you're one of those people who came across problems with the Universal Patcher like me, or are just looking for a short cut, then UxStyle is the right path for you.
Good grief, now I sound like a spokesperson.

Namenlos Tweaking: Hacker Notepad
Don't let the title fool you. It isn't really a hacking notepad, just a hacker-like GUI (graphical user interface, basically the look if you don't know), good old black and green. Some screen shots.

QRegDefrag - Remove fragments from your registry
Revo Uninstaller - Uninstalls files, then searches for any traces of it left. Be careful when you use this, very careful, because
you may delete the wrong file
HWiNFO32 - Reveals computer information for 32 bit machines
Malwarebytes Portable - The best anti malware I know of

ClamWinPortable - A portable antivirus
Norman Malware Cleaner - Scans and removes over 30,000 known viruses
HijackThis - Scan and search for any hijacked settings or programs running you do not want.
Avenger - A rootkit scanner/remover. You may have to search the net for some scripts
Defraggler - A disk defragger.
Notice: You should be very careful when using these programs, as a simple misuse can lead to a problem going worse.

My own tests of multiple AV software
Avira AntiVir Free
This is by far one of the most powerful antiviruses I have ever used. With one of the best virus definitions that are updated at least once a day, it is guaranteed to offer maximum virus protection. Upon downloading a suspected virus, Avira will alert you and ask you if you want to deny it's access. Avira AntiVir goes along perfectly with the free edition of Outpost Firewall and a-squared.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
A very adaptable, easy to use and effective Anti-Virus. It is an on-access virus scanner, just like Avira AntiVir. Kaspersky can be found here.
