Avira AntiVir Free
This is by far one of the most powerful antiviruses I have ever used. With one of the best virus definitions that are updated at least once a day, it is guaranteed to offer maximum virus protection. Upon downloading a suspected virus, Avira will alert you and ask you if you want to deny it's access. Avira AntiVir goes along perfectly with the free edition of Outpost Firewall and a-squared.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
A very adaptable, easy to use and effective Anti-Virus. It is an on-access virus scanner, just like Avira AntiVir. Kaspersky can be found here.
avast! Antivirus
avast! Antivirus is another on-access virus scanner. With a virus database almost as good as Avira's, this simple anti virus will easily remove any virus in your hands. It will not automatically delete them upon download, as there ARE such things as false positives.
